Drip Campaigns: When a Timed Email Sequence Makes Sense
Use drip campaigns when a predictable sequence of messages should unfold over time.
Independent guidance: We compare products by fit and documented capabilities. We do not claim firsthand testing unless a page explicitly describes a testing method.
What a drip campaign is
A drip campaign sends a planned sequence of messages with delays between them. It differs from more dynamic automation when timing is the primary logic.
Good use cases
Courses, onboarding, educational series, event preparation, product adoption, and lead nurturing can work well when the sequence is stable.
Where drip campaigns fail
Rigid sequences can become irrelevant when subscriber behavior changes. Use exits, tags, or branching where the customer journey genuinely needs them.
Measure the sequence as a system
Review progression, clicks, replies, conversions, unsubscribes, and where people stop engaging—not only each message in isolation.
